Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, plus most rural Highland postcodes. Hebrides and remote islands take longer.
Wales

We're still finalising launch pricing, but the model is simple. Bag size + weight + distance + delivery speed = your quote. Starting from under £30 (subject to launch pricing).

UK luggage-comparison content always focuses on airlines. Trains are the other half of the story. Here's the lived reality, line by line.
LNER
London ↔ Edinburgh, York, Newcastle, Leeds. Luggage racks fill up by Leeds on a busy Friday. Anything over ~23kg is a wrestle into the overhead.
Avanti West Coast
London ↔ Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow. Pendolino end-of-carriage space is limited. Peak Euston departures are case-Tetris.
ScotRail & TPE
Newer stock has slightly more luggage capacity, but it's still tight on summer Saturdays and ski-weekend Fridays.
GWR
London ↔ Bristol, Cornwall, Wales. Cornish-line trains south of Plymouth get tight. Rural stops are short, no porter.
Eurostar
Formal limits on bag size and number. Heathrow Express and Stansted Express are similar. Cases sized to overhead racks only.
The "two cases" rule
Not legally enforced on most UK domestic services, but it's the convention. Larger than that, or more than two, and you're planning ahead.

The trouble is, the moment a box gets heavy or bulky, the usual options get fiddly: strict size limits, per-parcel pricing that stacks up fast, and a queue at the counter to find out.

Student shipping in the UK
Every September, an entire generation moves to university. Every June, they move back. In between, parents drive a Polo full of duvets up the A1, students wrestle suitcases onto crowded LNER services, and Royal Mail says no to anything bigger than a shoebox. We're launching with this in mind.

For a small, light parcel, Royal Mail is hard to beat. LugLess wins on heavy or bulky boxes, multi-box moves, and anything that trips a courier's oversized or surcharge bands. One quote, door-to-door, no dimension roulette at the counter.
How should I pack a box for UK shipping?
Use a sturdy double-walled box, fill the gaps so nothing shifts, and tape every seam. Keep each box under our weight ceiling and label it clearly. Full packing guidance will be built into the booking flow at launch.
Can LugLess ship to UK universities and student halls?
Yes at launch. Most halls and colleges accept inbound packages, so confirm with the porters' lodge or accommodation team before scheduling. Some Oxbridge colleges require advance notice. Student discounts will mirror our US programme.
Is it easier to take my bags on the train or ship them ahead?
Depends on the trip. For a single overnight to Manchester, the train is fine. For a peak-Friday London–Edinburgh, a Cornish summer hop, or a Freshers' week move to Durham, shipping ahead means hands-free travel.
