Shipping skis to Breckenridge lets your gear go up I-70 midweek by FedEx or UPS and arrive at Beaver Run or your condo before you do. You take the DEN leg on a $12.50 Snowstang seat or a shuttle with up to two bags free, not a Frontier overweight line and a Saturday of five hours of tunnel metering. LugLess books the shipment from drop-off to delivery.

Where Your Skis Go in Breckenridge (Not the Base)

You can't ship skis to the Peak 8 or Peak 9 base areas or the BreckConnect Gondola, but you can ship them to your Breckenridge hotel, your condo's front desk, or the UPS Store at 400 N Park Ave, and carry them to the lift from there.

Beaver Run Resort, 620 Village Rd, publishes its prices: $25 to receive luggage, ski and snowboard bags and large boxes, $20 for envelopes and small boxes, and $5 a day for storage beyond five days. It takes UPS and FedEx only (USPS does not deliver), addressed to the registered guest.

Grand Colorado on Peak 8, 1627 Ski Hill Rd, accepts UPS and FedEx packages and charges $8 a day for small packages and $14 a day for large ones stored before arrival. Gravity Haus Breckenridge, 605 S Park Ave, says guests can ship items if they call first, and it offers free ski lockers. One Ski Hill Place lists ski storage, private lockers and a ski concierge but no package fee, so ask for the package fee and the label format when you book.

The UPS Store is at 400 N Park Ave, Ste 12-B, in the City Market center, open seven days. Call for the hold-for-pickup fee. Summit County has no FedEx Office store. The closest FedEx counter is the FedEx Ship Center in Silverthorne. Confirm the address and weekday hours with FedEx before you ship there.

The Town licenses short-term rentals by zone and requires the license number in every listing. A rental has no front desk, so confirm with the host that someone can receive a ski bag, or ship to the UPS Store.

Label the bag with the guest name as booked, your arrival date, "Hold for guest," and the street address. Ship to arrive two to three days before you do, inside Beaver Run's five free storage days, and track it.

If you want your skis carried to the hotel ski locker by a courier who hands them over in person, that's our sister service, Luggage Forward. LugLess ships by FedEx and UPS, so your ski bag goes to your hotel, your condo desk or the UPS Store in Breckenridge, and you carry it to the gondola.

No Airport, One Tunnel: Why You Ship to Breckenridge

Breckenridge has no airport of its own. The Denver to Breckenridge drive from DEN is 104 miles, about 1.75 hours in good conditions: I-70 west to exit 203 at Frisco, then CO-9 south into town. The town's tourism site says "often longer on winter weekends."

Every car on that route goes through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, about 60 miles west of Denver at an average elevation of 11,112 feet. CDOT meters traffic into the Eisenhower Tunnel to manage congestion and air quality. On one Presidents' Day weekend, CDOT reported about 2,900 vehicles an hour through the tunnel, expected 3,000 on the Sunday afternoon, and ran five hours of metering on the Saturday until 10 p.m. The worst windows are Friday 2 to 7 p.m. westbound and Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. eastbound, building from 11:30 a.m.

The Traction Law runs September 1 to May 31 on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison, and a rental on worn all-season tires does not qualify. Skis shipped midweek aren't in the car with you if traffic stacks up or there's an I-70 closure. Vail is the other big I-70 resort; see Shipping Your Skis to Vail. If you leave I-70 at Silverthorne for Steamboat, see Shipping Your Skis to Steamboat Springs.

Without a car, Snowstang Breckenridge runs from Denver Union Station at 6:05 a.m. to the Breckenridge Transit Center, 150 Watson Ave, at 8 a.m. on weekends plus MLK and Presidents' Day. It's $12.50 one way, returns at 4 p.m., and runs through April 19. Each rider gets three pieces under the bus, and skis or a snowboard count as one. The Epic Mountain Express Denver airport to Breckenridge shuttle is $59 to $129 per person, takes two to two and a half hours, and includes up to two bags free.

Count the bags: four skiers with four ski bags, four boot bags and four suitcases have 12 pieces. That uses all of Snowstang's allowance and is four over a two-bag-per-person shuttle allowance.

Skiing at 9,600 Feet Is Reason Enough to Travel Light

Breckenridge altitude starts at 9,600 feet in town and reaches 12,998 at the summit. The town's tourism office lists headaches, dizziness, nausea, poor sleep and fatigue as first-day symptoms, and advises doubling your water intake and taking the first day easy. For more, read the CDC Yellow Book chapter on high-elevation travel. Arrival day is a bad day to haul a 40 lb ski bag across a parking lot.

The Imperial Express SuperChair tops out at 12,840 feet, North America's highest chairlift. Breckenridge has five peaks (6 through 10), 355 inches of average snowfall, 35 lifts and 187 runs.

For Breckenridge ski storage once your skis arrive, the resort runs ski check at Peak 8, across from the gondola entrance, and at Peak 9, near the Quicksilver and Beaver Run lifts, plus daily and overnight lockers at both bases. Prices aren't published, so ask at the ski check or your hotel.

Dates That Move the Shipping Calendar

Breckenridge opening day is November 6, 2026, the first major Colorado resort to open after Keystone. No closing date has been announced.

Two events fill the town. Ullr Fest runs December 17 to 19, 2026. The International Snow Sculpture Championships sculpt January 23 to 27, 2027, with viewing through February 2 at the Riverwalk Center. Add two days of buffer around both.

LugLess advises 5 to 10 business days during winter peaks. Pad these three most: Christmas week, Presidents' Day and Snow Sculpture week. Count back from your arrival date.

Flying with Skis into Denver, If You Still Want To

Airline ski bag fees and rules vary. Delta, American and Southwest each count one ski bag plus one boot bag as a single checked item. Over 50 lb, the overweight fee applies. American and Southwest waive oversize fees; Delta won't accept an item over 115 linear inches.

Frontier limits checked bags to 40 lb, with overweight charges of $75 to $129 per bag; check the current rule for skis. For United, check the current rule.

Then add the bus or shuttle leg and its bag limits, and compare airline baggage fees with the cost of shipping.

How Shipping Skis to Breckenridge Works with LugLess

  1. Pack skis in a padded ski bag or hard case, bindings secured, tips and tails padded. Boots and outerwear can share the bag.
  2. Pick the size. Skis go up to 45 lb and 76 x 9 x 8 inches; Large Skis up to 90 lb and 76 x 15 x 9 inches; snowboards up to 50 lb and 67 x 14 x 7 inches. A boot bag usually ships as a carry-on. Bringing a board? See ship a snowboard.
  3. Get a quote on the LugLess calculator: destination (Beaver Run, Grand Colorado, your condo desk or the UPS Store at 400 N Park Ave), bag count, and a delivery date two to three days before you arrive.
  4. LugLess compares FedEx and UPS rates and sends digital labels. Drop the bag at any FedEx or UPS location or book a home pickup, then track it from drop-off to delivery. Value protection is optional.

To weigh the cost, add up an airline ski bag and a suitcase each way, plus any shuttle bags over the free allowance, then compare.

FAQs

Can I ship skis to Breckenridge Ski Resort or the gondola?

No, you can't ship skis to the Peak 8 or Peak 9 base areas or the BreckConnect Gondola. Ship them to your hotel, your condo's front desk or the UPS Store at 400 N Park Ave instead, then carry them to the lift. Beaver Run and Grand Colorado on Peak 8 both accept UPS and FedEx packages and publish their fees. In town, use the resort ski check at Peak 8 or Peak 9 or a daily or overnight locker.

How much does Beaver Run charge to receive a ski bag?

Beaver Run charges $25 to receive a ski or snowboard bag, the same as luggage and large boxes. Envelopes and small boxes are $20. Storage beyond five days is $5 a day, so time the delivery for two to three days before you arrive. Beaver Run takes UPS and FedEx only, since USPS does not deliver there, and the package should be addressed to the registered guest. Grand Colorado charges by the day instead: $8 for small packages and $14 for large ones.

Is there a FedEx Office or UPS Store in Breckenridge?

There's a UPS Store in Breckenridge, but Summit County has no FedEx Office store. The UPS Store is at 400 N Park Ave, Ste 12-B, in the City Market center, and it's open seven days. Call ahead for the hold-for-pickup fee. For FedEx, the closest counter is the FedEx Ship Center in Silverthorne; confirm the address and weekday hours with FedEx before you ship there. The UPS Store is on the Breck Free Ride, so you can collect a ski bag without a car.

Can I take skis on the Snowstang bus from Denver to Breckenridge?

Yes. Snowstang gives each rider three pieces under the bus, and skis or a snowboard count as one. The Breckenridge route leaves Denver Union Station at 6:05 a.m. and reaches the Breckenridge Transit Center, 150 Watson Ave, at 8 a.m. It runs weekends plus MLK and Presidents' Day through April 19, costs $12.50 one way, and heads back at 4 p.m. A family with ski bags, boot bags and suitcases can fill that allowance fast.

The drive from Denver airport to Breckenridge is 104 miles and takes about 1.75 hours in good conditions. The route is I-70 west to exit 203 at Frisco, then CO-9 south into town.
