Our 2022 Round-Up

2022 has been quite a year for travelers! After staying close to home for a couple of years, wanderers were ready to take to the skies and explore the world. And if our highly scientific poll is any indication, that trend will continue well into 2023.

So, as we all start planning our upcoming adventures, there’s no better time to share the travel tips we picked up this past year. Check these out before you book your first trip of the new year!

  • Book early

Travel is back, you guys! And people are eagerly making up for lost time.

That means that flights, hotels, and anything else that requires booking could be sold-out far ahead of time.

Which brings us to the first of our top travel tips: if you have your heart set on a particular destination, book it as soon as you can.

  • Explore your passions

Stuck on vacation planning? Ask yourself one question: what do I absolutely love?

From a “bucket list” MLB ballpark tour to returning to your childhood beach spot, you deserve the chance to chase your passions on your vacation.

  • Pack like a pro

Overpackers, we see you! We like to have our options, too!

The secret to having it all with you is knowing what to bring and—more importantly—how to fit it all into one suitcase.

Our suggestions? Think capsule wardrobes, packing cubes, and (our favorite tip) rolling instead of folding your clothes.

  • Give yourself plenty of time at the airport

More travelers = longer lines at the airport. So from baggage check to TSA, you’re likely to find a crowd ahead of you.

Trust us, the last thing you want to do is take a mad dash to your gate at the last minute. So get there early, get through the lines, then take it easy waiting for your flight to board.

  • Go paperless

Rustling through a pile of papers is so last year!

Pretty much everything can be handled on your phone: hotel reservations, boarding passes, luggage shipping, event tickets…

It’s easier on the environment and much more organized for you.

Pro Tip: If you’re worried about WiFi access, download passes and tickets ahead of time and take screenshots.

  • Ship your bags

Save money and stress? Count us in!

Shipping your bags to your final destination with LugLess costs less than the average price of a checked bag.

Plus, you can hop off the plane and head straight to your hotel or Airbnb, avoiding baggage claim crowds and the potential for a missing or delayed suitcase.

One of our favorite travel tips, it’s a win-win for your budget and your stress level!

  • Pad your arrival date

If there’s one thing we learned in 2022, it’s that flight delays are part of traveling. So if you have to be somewhere on a specific day/time (think weddings, tours, etc.), you definitely want to give yourself some leeway.

Get to your destination a day or two early, enjoy the sights, and don’t risk missing out on a fun event because of flight issues.

  • Take a work-cation

More and more people are working from home… and home can be anywhere you like!

Instead of waiting for your week or two of vacation, grab your laptop and head off on a work-cation. Work from your hotel room or a co-working space during the day, then explore in the evenings and at night.

  • Keep a journal

Write notes, take photos, or hold on to ticket stubs.

One of the best parts of traveling is the memories you make. Pulling out your journal and revisiting your favorite days just makes the fun times last longer.

  • Stay calm

    Repeat after us: ommmmmm…

The one true thing about traveling is to expect the unexpected.

So take a deep breath, unclench your jaw, and release your tense muscles. Instead of being upset over your ideal scenario, do your best to enjoy what’s happening. Who knows, it could turn out way better!

We love traveling just as much as you guys do! In fact, the only thing we might like even more is sharing our favorite travel tips. Follow these, and your 2023 adventures will be smooth sailing, er, flying!

Happy Travels!
