Last Minute Getaways To Celebrate 4th of July (w/ Fireworks!)

Having you been DYING for a last minute holiday trip? Well, now’s your chance!

We have the most epic 4th of July destinations with must-see firework displays across America! Grab your friends, fam or just yourself and make the most out of the 4th this year and celebrate the birth of the United States. And why not take a last-minute trip? Any excuse to travel, right? That’s our motto!

The 4th falls on a Thursday this year, so take Friday off and make it a long weekend with one of these hot 4th of July destinations!

  • New York City

It would be a crime if we didn’t include New York City on this list! Celebrate the 4th of July in the most iconic city this year. While there are a million activities to partake in this Independence Day, the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks celebration is not to miss! The show will begin at 9:25 p.m. and take place from the Brooklyn Bridge. However, you don’t need to be in Brooklyn to view the fireworks. With several barges line ups, you can view the display from Midtown, East Village, Brooklyn, Queens and beyond!

  • Washington, DC

There’s no such thing as celebrating the 4th just one way in Washington, DC because there are multiple firework displays! The most popular way is to grab a spot at the National Mall to watch the fireworks show. Enjoy a *FREE* concert (A Capitol Fourth)on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and arrive early to get a good spot. You can also view fireworks from across the Potomac River! While you’re there, make sure to check out the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial. For something more relaxing, hang out at a rooftop bar and view fireworks (the POV Rooftop Lounge and Terrace at the W Hotel is a good one!) or get on the water and enjoy a fireworks cruise along the Potomac River! Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

  • South Lake Tahoe

If you want one of the best and largest fireworks shows (Lights on the Lake Fireworks) in the country, then South Lake Tahoe, California is the perfect holiday getaway destination! The show starts at 9:45 p.m. and if you want a more VIP experience, consider hopping on a ride with a boat tour (there are plenty of companies!) and experience the fireworks from the water with a glass of champagne! While the view from the lake is the best, it honestly doesn’t matter where you are because you can literally see the fireworks from all over Lake Tahoe. Get a little beach time, a little sun and experience an amazing fireworks display this year!

  • Nashville

If you’re a country music fan, then head over to Nashville this year for one of the largest 4th of July fireworks shows in the country! However, you’ll be celebrating WAY before the fireworks start as there are plenty of *FREE* concerts starting at 12 p.m. on July 3rd! This year’s line up is Brett Eldredge, Mac McAnally, Jessy Wilson, Dylan Scott, Creature Comfort, Jackson Bruck & The Dukes of Hume, Joe West Band, and the Grammy-award winning Nashville Symphony! Live music & a spectacular fireworks show (starts at 9:30 p.m.) — what more can you ask for!

  • New Orleans

With nightlife, culture, festivals, sports, and shopping, of course, New Orleans is on this list of MUST visit places for the 4th of July, especially with a mega fireworks display! Consider hopping on a fireworks cruise to really experience the fireworks show. Whether you hop on a steamboat or stay on land by the Riverfront, you’ll have a grand time! Before the fireworks show enjoy live music at Crescent Park and visit the French market and flea markets along the Riverwalk Marketplace. The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m.

Whether you fly or road trip, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. So, where are you going this year? Let us know in the comments! If you need a little help shipping your luggage, LugLess is here to help! Happy 4th!
