Go ahead and book that flight you’ve been eyeing; we’ve got you covered. From bonnets to brunch, these are our five favorite cities for celebrating Easter.

• New York City

  The Big Apple goes all out for every other holiday, so why should Easter be any different? Hint: it’s not. New York’s annual Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival has been a 5th Avenue tradition since the 1870s. Anyone can join in the fun – just wear your finest Easter duds and a bonnet of some sort. And yes, you’re going to look ridiculous. Own it and post your selfies.

  Forget about Easter dinner, though. This is a city that knows how to brunch, and local restaurants up their game with utterly craveable menus and buffets after the parade.

• Orlando

  Oh Disney, how we love you! The happiest place on Earth gets even happier during the Easter weekend. The classic parades take on a holiday theme and Disney characters mingle with Mr. and Mrs. Bunny (he’s married?!?) on Main Street. And Epcot goes into overdrive with one of its most popular events, its annual Flower & Garden Festival.

  If Disney’s not your thing, check out its next-door neighbor: Universal Studios. Their Mardi Gras celebration runs through Easter and will make you feel like you’re right in the heart of NoLa. Beads, floats, and Cajun cuisine for everybody.

• St. Augustine

  St. Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S., so it’s no surprise that they have their own way of celebrating Easter. The city comes through with its Parada de los Caballos y Coches (Parade of Horses and Carriages), a procession featuring everything from drill teams to Imperial Storm Troopers. Yes, really. And in case that’s not extra enough for you, the horses will be in their Easter bonnets…

  If you need a break afterwards, downtown is buzzing with brunch options. Or, head east to Pontevedra Beach to soak up some rays – and possibly see a dolphin or two.

• South Padre Island

  Usually known for its Spring Break mayhem, South Padre shows another side during Easter. And not just on Easter Sunday. The entire week leading up to Easter is known as Semana Santa (Holy Week), an important religious holiday to the local Hispanic community.

  Of course, the international flavor isn’t the only reason to head down to Texas for Easter. There’s the usual South Padre fun: fishing, surfing, and sea turtle-spotting. And with its prime location and gorgeous weather, you’ll be eating your Easter brunch under the palm trees, in your sunnies and Speedos. Hey, we’re not judging!

• Washington, D.C.

  Because you’re never too old to chase Easter eggs on the White House lawn. It’s actually one of our nation’s most famous traditions, but you’ll have to get very lucky – like, winning the Easter lottery lucky. Because tix are free, but spaces are limited.

  But you’re almost better off not winning the Easter lottery. You’ll pretty much have the monuments to yourself, since everyone else is at the White House. And it’s the tail end of the cherry blossoms, which make the perfect insta-worthy backgrounds for your selfies.
